Art in the Community meeting -

Friday, April 7th, 1-3 pm at the Bill J. Institute, Dallas County Community College

The DCCCD art welding program is organizing a facilitated discussion with city managers, art coordinators and Directors of community services who bring art to our communities.

We are developing a certification for the artists who produce public art.  The certification is designed specifically for you.  Your input can help create a program which benefits all the stakeholders in the placement of public art.  I’ve attached a document which introduces the proposed program.

Following the community art meeting will be a first-time organized, maquette show.  We will have 25 of the most established and accomplished artists in the area who are producing large-scale works of art.  Many of you have already worked with these artists.  The show will be an exhibition of concepts and proposed large-scale metal sculptures which can be commissioned for public art projects.  The artists will exhibit a small scale model, dimensions, color options and costs for each model.  The objective is to connect the leaders who are placing art with the talented artists who are creating the work.  We hope you’ll stay after the meeting and meet the artists and see their work.  The maquette show is Friday, April 7th, 3-7:30pm and Saturday, April 8th at the same Bill J. Priest Institute location.

Attending community art leaders representing the follow cities include:  Frisco, Richardson, Dallas, Fort Worth, Lewisville, Garland, North Richland Hills, Arlington, McKinney, Allen, Coppell, Denton, Plano and Keller.

Trent's latest book, Art in the Community will be given to all attendees.  To peruse a digital copyt go HERE
